01 / The situation

Escaping the noise of the algorithm.

For too long, makers and hobbyists have been forced to gather on giant social media sites where their creativity is treated as data and their feeds are controlled by predatory algorithms.

ThreadySetGo wanted to build a sanctuary, a dedicated space where sewists could learn, share, and connect without the distraction of ads, doomscrolling, or artificial intelligence.

A clear mission: Build a welcoming space that prioritizes real interaction over engagement metrics.

02 / What got built

A human-centric platform. Free from the noise.

Could it be done? A new kind of social platform that doesn't want to gobble up everyone's privacy for breakfast while making people miserable? Turns out yes, actually, and by just two people.

Algorithm-Free Forums

Clean and welcoming discussion spaces where makers help makers, sorted by relevance, not by a bot.

Live Event Hub

Interactive sewalongs, Q&A sessions, and virtual workshops where members connect in real time.

Premium Video Library

An on demand library of expert tutorials, designed to take makers from the basics to complex projects.

Membership Engine

Community Spotlight

A monthly showcase highlighting the incredible work and projects created by the community members.

Privacy-First Design

A secure, AI-free environment where creative data and personal details are actually respected.

03 / How it worked commercially

Paid for by love.

This is actually a personal project created by me and my wife, in fact it's the first project I ever made for myself in 20 years. The rate I charged is not publicly available, besides I don't think you want to be forced to repeatedly watch Crimson Tide (the best movie ever made), or supply me with endless amounts of homemade cookies.

04 / The stack

Pragmatic tech for real connection.

Laravel Livewire Tailwind Stripe

The underlying technology was deliberately chosen to be invisible. It provides a solid foundation for the community to grow on, prioritizing uptime and security instead of over-engineered complexity that usually just distracts from real human connection.

Choosing these technologies allowed us to build highly interactive community features and a seamless membership experience without the bloat and complexity of a heavy framework.

05 / What changed

A growing hub. True community.

Since launch, ThreadySetGo has become the definitive home for makers looking for a better way to connect:

  • A thriving community has taken root, with thousands of makers sharing knowledge and supporting each other's creative journeys.
  • Live events bursting with enthusiasm, proving that sewists were hungry for real-time interaction and guided learning.
  • The membership model is scaling, providing a sustainable foundation for the platform to continue the human-first mission we have embarked on.
  • Zero-friction updates mean new features - like the upcoming marketplace & stash manager can be rolled out to the community without disruption, adding new value every day.
